RESTAURANT PROJECT

HAMBURG, GERMANY

August–November
2011

Five Fellows had the chance to work with Tim Mälzer, one of the most famous TV chefs in Europe, at his restaurant Bullerei. Their Project Challenge was to learn about food advocacy and the culinary arts, and how to spread this knowledge. As the project’s Friend, Mälzer gave the Fellows insight into the life of a restaurateur, cookbook author, and media figure, and shared his passion for educating people about healthy eating and passing his love of food down to the next generation.
In Hamburg the Fellows explored various local cuisines and culinary traditions. They also gained an insight into the business of running a restaurant, food safety and preparation, working in a kitchen, and the television industry. During this project, the Fellows managed GoodFoodGood.com, a multimedia food portal where they shared their knowledge, experiences, and inspiration.
